Hudson Valley Letter Press
A founder story. Hudson Valley Letterpress — Foxy & Winston — is a one-woman studio in Hillsdale, where the British designer Jane Buck prints playful, bespoke stationery on her 1890s and 1920s Chandler & Price treadle presses. ephemeris was asked to tell Jane's story, and made a founder portrait that follows the work back to the hand and the machine. The film now lives on her own studio's About page.

The still room in the world for people that don't want to make their invitations on intercom. It's such a bespoke experience. No two jobs are ever the same. Getting the colors just right and getting them on the press. I find that that whole process quite magical. They come to me if they want something that, you know, nobody else has a completely customer experience.
But my job when I'm working with a client is to make sure that you have a cohesive experience all the way from the save the date, the invitations, the menus, the place cards. Everything tells a story. People come to me that wants something a little bit different. You know, they'll say, we don't want it to be stuffy. We want it to be colorful and playful.
It's just so varied and so creative, and it keeps me on my toes. People want something completely original just for them, and that's what makes it special.
